It is no exaggeration to say that we at Bologna Book Fair are in shock having heard the sad news today of Porter Anderson’s death. Just two weeks ago, he was with us attending our sister fair in Shanghai and contributing to its success with his usual style, wit and unique observations.
Porter’s CV was illustrious and his experience, lending perceptive insight, immense. His thorough research, appetite for information and breadth of knowledge always guaranteed thoughtful coverage of our industry.
It was our pleasure to have Porter in Bologna over many years and we are so grateful for the professional way in which he chaired conferences, taking the time to do his research and ask searching questions of the panelists.
We all enjoyed meeting him around the world - spotted in Sharjah just before flying to Shanghai.
But above all, Porter was a greatly valued friend - to many of us on a personal level and also to the industry to which he became so essential. He leaves a great legacy and it was our privilege to have known him and to have worked with him.
