ATTIVITÀ EDITORIALE
Parrésia started intending to give a voice to writers who had never been heard on the Nigerian publishing scene. To fulfil this mission, we have given writers nothing but our trust in their words. We told them we would keep their words as they birthed their stories. We would watch as their stories took flight, like a butterfly seeking freedom with every part of its wings.
Parrésia Publishers was described in 2017 by The New York Times as one of “a handful of influential new publishing houses” in Africa in the last decade.
In 2016, Parrésia won the NLNG Prize for Literature, its first award with Abubakar Adam Ibrahim’s Season of Crimson Blossoms. In 2020, it shared the Sharjah International Prize for Fiction Award with Penguin Random House South Africa for Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onubia’s The Son Of The House. The Son of The House also won the NLNG Prize for Literature in 2021.
Parrésia publishes its fiction and creative non-fiction works under three imprints. Each of the three imprints responds to a specific demand in the publishing market and shows the extent of Parrésia’s impact on contemporary Nigerian literature.
