Japanese publishing giant Kodansha is a leading producer of manga IP. In recent years, they have been developing licensing strategies that help to extend their IPs beyond manga to become iconic brands applied to consumer products and beyond. Even in the current phase of growth in the comics industry, it remains crucial (particularly for small publishers) to be able to support the work of artists capable of standing the test of time and the editorial trends.
