The exhibition "Illustration for children. Italian Excellence" arrives in Sofia

 After the successful openings in Madrid, Bologna and Berlin, the Museum Kvadrat 500 of Sofia is the fourth venue for the exhibition entitled - Illustration for Children. Italian Excellence.


The inauguration of the exhibition on June 14 will be attended by Sofia Conticelli Marco Italian Ambassador in Sofia, Marco Momoli Bologna Fiere Commercial Director and the illustrator Alessandro Sanna.


The exhibition looks at the extraordinary quality of Italian illustration, tells the history of such art over the last forty years and covers the work of 18 great artists. The show is organized as part of the Italian Festival in Bulgaria by the Italian Institute of Culture in Sofia together with ICE - the Agency for the promotion and international presentation of Italian companies in Sofia and in close collaboration with Bologna Children 'Book Fair supported by the regional council of Emilia Romagna.


The show will run until July 25 and documents the artistic development of established illustrators, such as Roberto Innocenti and Lorenzo Mattotti while also showcasing young talent of Philip Giordano and Arianna Vairo. These selected artists have over two generations created a new formats for picture books and whose creative originality and has been recognized at home and abroad, where they have received various awards and accolades.


The exhibition is a further step in collaboration between the Italian and Bulgarian publishing after their presence at the 53th edition of the Bologna Children's Book Fair with Bulgarian children’s publishers Finally on June 15 the illustrator Alessandro Sanna, will lead a workshop entitled "Water, Sign, Colors -Telling Stories through images" for Bulgarian illustrators; and the following an event especially for children called: " The Trilogy of the sign: Heart, Home and Tummy".
