Beyond Publishing Caribbean is a Barbados-based publisher of Caribbean-themed comic books and graphic novels. Since its founding in 2012, its mission was to create powerful stories that stick inside the mind and showcase the Caribbean in ways that have not been seen before. Using vibrant artwork and emotional storytelling, Beyond Publishing Caribbean remixes Caribbean culture to promote compelling narratives that resonate with readers within the diaspora and across the globe. To date Beyond Publishing Caribbean has released multiple Caribbean stories across many different genres including Offset, Spirit Bear, Heart Man, Life & Death in Paradise, Diary of the Stray Dogs and Rob the Rocket Boy. These were also the recipients of multiple Addy Awards for Book Design, Publication Design, and Illustration. Beyond Publishing Caribbean has collaborated with various organizations to tackle social issues within Barbados and the wider Caribbean Region. Examples include the Crossroads series; a project with the Embassy of United States of America on gun violence, domestic violence/ abuse and human trafficking, as well as How Hard the Times, a project with the National Cultural Foundation during slavery, and a joint-educational project on Covid-19 Awareness with the Ministry of Health. The Crossroads series was also the recipient of the Angel Award for Social Outreach from the Caribbean Advertising Federation. In 2022, Beyond Publishing has sold the Hardears series to Megascope/Abrhams Publishing, which is a major comic-book publisher in the United States, where it was nominated for the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award by the San-Diego Comic-con in 2022. Hardears has also received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, been featured in the New York Times, and displayed in the Barbados Museum & Historical Society and Metropolitan Museum of Art – Before Yesterday We Could Fly: An Afrofuturist Period Exhibit. In 2026, Beyond Publishing released its newest title Loose Change which seeks to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship in readers young and old. This was done through the Creative Caribbean Initiative, which is funded by Unesco Caribbean, ACP-EU countries, the Caricom Secretariat and the University of the West Indies.
