BolognaBookPlus renews its commitment to supporting independent authors with the Indie Authors Book Jacket Awards 2027, an award that celebrates graphic creativity in the world of self-publishing.
Self-publishing has now established itself as a vital and recognised part of the publishing landscape, capable not only of competing but also of influencing trends and styles. Far from old prejudices, it now represents a conscious and dynamic choice for a growing number of authors.
In 2025, the United States surpassed 3.5 million self-published titles, whilst in Italy, self-publishing accounts for 16.1% of total output, with over 26,700 titles. In such a competitive market, the cover is the first point of recognition: it must make an impact, communicate effectively and represent the book. The Indie Authors Book Jacket Awards therefore recognise the most original, effective and high-quality covers.
Indie Authors Children and YA Book Jacket Award
The award dedicated to the best cover of an internationally self-published work aimed at a children’s and young adult audience. A prize that recognises the visual talent of those who write for the younger generation.
Indie Italian Book Jacket Award
The award that celebrates the best covers of self-published Italian works aimed at an adult audience. A prize that recognises Italian publishing excellence.
The 2027 edition of the Indie Authors Book Jacket Awards is coming soon. Entries will open on 1 October 2026, with a closing date of 26 February 2027. The winners will be honoured during the Writers Lab at BolognaBookPlus, with visibility on the fair’s official channels and the opportunity to exhibit and sell their works at the Self-Publishers’ Bookshop at the Turin International Book Fair.
