Now in its sixth edition, the BolognaRagazzi CrossMedia Award – promoted by BolognaFiere as part of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026 – honours the best crossmedia projects for children and young people. In a publishing landscape increasingly focused on developing and enhancing its own properties, the award recognizes narratives capable of expanding across multiple media while keeping the book as a key gateway into the story world.
Participation in the Award is free of charge and open to publishers, IP owners, authors, Intellectual Properties developers/producers and all others involved in the creation and production of the project.
The prize will have two categories:
The International Jury shall award a Prize for each of the two categories from among the works submitted. The Jury may also award Special Mentions.
Candidates may also choose to compete in the Special Category: Gender Equality and Environmental Sustainability, which cuts across the two main categories. The Jury will award the crossmedia project or digital reading experience that most meaningfully interprets and highlights the themes of gender equality and/or environmental sustainability.
The crossmedia project must have as its starting or finishing point books, novels, picturebooks, plays, or graphic novels for early readers and young adults. For projects going from the printed book to digital formats, the multimedia expansions must have been published / released for the first time in the period between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2025.
Similarly, for projects going from the digital to printed version, the books derived from multimedia projects must have been published for the first time in the period between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2025.
The range of different media covered by the projects submitted shall be one of the parameters evaluated by the Jury. The following are examples of the media categories that will be taken into consideration by the Jury:
The digital reading experiences for early readers and young adults must be made available by digital reading platforms, libraries, applications or digital publishing series, and must have been published for the first time or have new content published between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2025.
Only projects submitted as crossmedia projects or digital reading experiences are eligible to apply for the Special Category: Gender Equality and Environmental Sustainability.
