The Russian illustrator Lera Elunina, is the winner of the 2021 ARS IN FABULA Grant awarded each year to a young illustrator under the age of 30, selected for the Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children's Book Fair.
Lera Elunina was born in Kaluga, Russia (1993). She studied painting and graphic arts for six years at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts of Ivan Fedorov. She currently teaches in the Russian Business and Design Institute of Moscow.
Her work has been shown in several art exhibitions including ‘MOSGRAFIKArt’ (Moscow, 2016), Exhibition of Illustrators based on the works of Korney Chukovsky (Warsaw, 2016), Annual Exhibition of the Russian Association of Artists (Kaluga, 2017), ‘Ex-Libris Exhibition’ within The VI Russian Ex-libris Congress (Vologda, 2017), Typomania Moscow International Festival (Moscow, 2017), XIV International Illustration and Book Design Competition ‘Image of the Book’ (winner, Moscow, 2020).
The winner chosen by a jury made up of the course lecturers, is given a free place on the ARS IN FABULA - Master Degree Course in Illustration for Publishing, during which the selected artist will work on a book project assigned by one of the course publishing partners.
The initiative, promoted by ARS IN FABULA, a higher education institute directly involved in the field of high education and promotion of children's books in collaboration with Bologna Children's Book Fair, aims to sustain and train new talent through a postgraduate illustration course.
