Jacket design in general trade publishing has become more important than ever, as titles compete for attention in an increasingly competitive landscape and in both physical and digital worlds. There has been a significant rise in appreciating cover design as an art form once again. Jackets give face to a book’s personality, and can be a quick way to signal genre and hint at the words inside. This year the Best of the Best contest is exclusively focusing on, and celebrating, the work of, publishers from the inaugural Market of Honour, Greece. By narrowing the field to one region, it enables a sharper focus on a range of works from one culture and language, encouraging deeper debate, and celebrating a rich publishing sector. The winner is announced 8 March at the BBPlus Theatre.
