Guest of Honour Country
Portugal - Guest of Honour at Illustrators Exhibitions 2012
Como as Cerejas – [Like Cherries] evokes childhood imagination and reminds us that if “conversation is like cherries” good books are as well – which is why we always want more.
Como as Cerejas will be an opportunity to see at the same time and place the original artwork by 25 leading portuguese illustrators. The selection reflects the current state of Portuguese contemporary illustration for children: a very eclectic mixture of styles and techniques, reflecting a wide variety of artistic backgrounds, well established names alongside with emerging young illustrators, less published. A catalogue will be available.
In addition Portugal will present events for the Illustrators’Café and the Authors’ Café, both favoured spots for presentations and debates on authors and their work.
Already confirmed are the illustrators André Letria, Teresa Lima, Madalena Matoso, Bernardo Carvalho, Yara Kono, André da Loba, João Fazenda and Henrique Cayatte. Writers who have confirmed their presence are as follows: José Jorge Letria, Isabel Minhós Martins, Afonso Cruz and António Torrado
