Daisy Zuo in Bologna

The Chinese illustrator Daisy Zuo (Zouchao Zuo), already selected for the 2018 Illustrators Exhibition, is the winner of the call ‘A gaze over Bologna’, addressed to all Chinese UNESCO Creative Cities of the network, supported by the College of China. Following the example of the booklets ‘Bologna head up’   published a few years ago by Kitty Crowther and Bernardo Carvalho, Daisy will create a black and white booklet that will tell Bologna to the many Chinese tourists that every year choose the city as their holiday destination.

This Autumn, she’ll spend 2 weeks in Bologna in order to work at her best, hosted by the Sandra Natali Residence for Artists. The presentation of the booklet in 2019, will also be the occasion for a small exhibition where the original illustrations will be on show too.

She was selected  from among the 137 entries reviewed by a jury composed by Lorenzo Balbi, Director of MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, Roberto Grandi, Director of College di China, Isabella Del Monte representing the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Giorgia Boldrini, Head of Bologna Città della Musica UNESCO, Ilaria Tontardini and Emilio Varrà from Associazione Hamelin.

Daisy Zuo, born in 1984, comes from Hangzhou, the UNESCO Creative Cities for Crafts and Folk Arts. In 2017 she was also selected for the Nami Island International Picture Book Illustration Concours, Purple Island category, a contest dedicated to talented young illustrators organised and promoted by South Korea.
